Quiero ser una Tica

Day 4 - Wednesday the 6th

We have now been in Costa Rica now for a couple days and so good so far. We have not seen much of costa rica, but the retreat center we are staying at is BEAUTIFUL. It is an old nuns convent up in the mountains of the central region of Costa Rica. We are in a town called Tres Rios that is about 45 minutes from the capital city of San Jose. October is said to be the rainiest months but it looks like Costa RIca knew we were coming and we have had beautiful weather. It has rained, but nothing like everyone is  telling us to expect….but I am sure it is coming. Now when I say beautiful, I do not mean that warm. We are in a colder area and have been wearing sweaters a capris.

So far we have just been taking "classes" on everything we will need to know when we are here…i.e. medical stuff, administrative stuff, why we are in Costa Rica, bank accounts, money etc etc. As boring as it sounds, it really is surprisingly fun. Throughout all of the sessions we have had tons of time to get to know each other. Peace Corps Costa Rica has amazing staff that have not only made it super organized but also rally fun. It is so nice to know that we have friendly great people to support us while we are here.

The people here are what make it. "Tico 21" the name of our class is full of great people who are from all over the country and who have traveled all over the world. The more I learn about them, the more I like them. Today we are meeting the ambassador and I can't wait. Not only is the president a women, but so is our ambassador…I appreciate the girl power in this country and plan to add to it :).

More to come later…
